The World’s First Pop-Up Bowling Venue
With Diner, Cocktail Bar & Dancefloor

Pin-up, a unique 1950’s-inspired pop-up venue featuring four full-size ten pin bowling lanes, an American diner, a cocktail bar and a dancefloor with an eclectic genre-smashing music policy, launched in the UK on 16 September 2011 at Manchester’s vibrant Spinningfields district and ran for 2 months to much acclaim. Pin-up will be popping-up somewhere else in the UK in 2012 -  sign up to the newsletter to keep informed and get goodies and competitions.

Evolving from a cult London night and emerging as the world’s first fully pop-up boutique bowling lane venue, Pin-up’s eight-week debut boasted a whole host of exciting entertainment, from bowling, music, mouth watering food and irresistible cocktails, to magicians, dancers, themed nights, and regular collaborations with local promoters. Some of the UK’s most inspiring DJ’s also dropped in to play the 400 capacity temporary space, and original Pin-up residents were of course on hand throughout to ensure the music flowed as easily as the cocktails and strikes.

When in situ Pin-up will be open 7 days a week, serving lunch every day with brunch on the weekends when you can relax and enjoy the papers with a coffee or Bloody Mary followed by a leisurely round of bowling.

Bowling, Booze, Burgers & Beats

A bit of history for y’all.

Pin-up started back in July 2006 as a successful bi-monthly night of music, art and short film at the Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes in central London. Since its inception Pin-up has gained a reputation for its diverse music policy and numerous quirky add-ons including showcasing award winning short films with directors’ Q&A’s, roaming magicians, very amateur dance troops and screen-printing workshops by internationally-renowned illustrators.

To date, Pin-up has attracted DJs and bands including big names such as Andrew Weatherall, Justin Robertson, Rob da Bank, Sean Rowley (Guilty Pleasures), Tom Middleton, The Unabombers, Zero 7, Kid Carpet, Crazy P, Spektrum and many more.

Since the early days, Pin-up has been about offering a unique experience, in a place for friends to gather and engage in a really fun and sociable environment. Whilst bowling plays a huge part, this is about providing people with a range of experiences in the same place at the same time, much the same feeling you get from a festival. From dancing and bowling through to eating in a 1950’s diner and taking part in any one of the exciting range of activities on offer, Pin-up has it all. It has always been a dream of mine to turn Pin-up into this unique pop-up venue, plus with my enthusiasm for inspiring music and having a love of bowling ever since I was a 9 year-old kid, I’m really excited to see it all finally happen.  I’m excited about the temporary element to this as it only adds to the magic.  The beauty of the pop-up is that people are aware that it won’t be around forever and tend to make the most of their experience.”
