El Diablo’s Social Club with Bill Brewster (Lowlife)
17 September
8pm - 2am | El Diablos Social Club with Bill Brewster

Bill Brewster is awesome. I admit it, I came to the Bill party late. He ran DMC’s New York office in the 90’s, did stints at loads of other labels, has co-written books with Frank Broughton – Last Night A Dj Saved My Life, How To DJ (Properly) – and runs www.djhistory.com a comprehensive site dedicated to music. He has also been rocking London with his Low Life night for over 14 years. A group of my friends go religiously. Have done for years. But for some reason I could never go, something always seemed to come up. I finally made it last year and was filled with a feeling of slight regret at all the nights i’d missed over the years. To paraphrase Robbie Williams, no regrets, blah blah. But yep a slight regret nonetheless. Then I heard this mix of his on Vessel www.vesselmusic.com/2010/10/19/mix/bill-brewster/ and I was blown away. Nowdays I’m a bit of a fanatic. So when he offered to play Pin-up on our launch weekend as he was in the area to see his team Grimsby play, I was on the phone straight away. I hope they win – for Bill, and for us. If they don’t I hope he takes it well and doesn’t sulk and play a set of Tom Waits or get angry and play that Orc stuff from Norway.
But onto El Diablo’s Social Club. It was always our intention to work with promoters on the Manchester scene, to plug into their vibe and get them onboard. El Diablo’s was introduced to us by Bill and their eclectic list of past guests reads like its straight off our dream list, so it was a perfect match. We got in contact and the rest will be (DJ) history.

Also on the night we’re doing Floodit.
Nottingham’s Waste Studios’ Floodit concept is basically this: They get a load of great illustrators to create a graphic. They all turn up to a gig. They set up a their screen printing gear and print on to tees, sweatshirts, tote bags and paper. They invite people to bring their own garments – or they have a stash there in case you forget – and will print on them. In short its brilliant.
Joining Waste behind the screens will be our very own designer extraordinaire Timba Smits, Manchester’s Anyforty and Jeffrey Bowman (aka Mr Bowlegs).

So raid your wardrobe, get yer garms and get down to El Diablo’s Social Club at Pin-up.
